Jeff Karas
Transaction Counsel
Jeff is a Transactions Counsel within the Investments Legal team, responsible for reviewing, drafting and negotiating legal documentation for direct credit, direct equity, and secondary transactions. Prior to joining Hamilton Lane in 2024, Jeff was a finance attorney within multiple international law firms, including Schulte Roth & Zabel, LLP and Ice Miller LLP, where he represented lenders, borrowers, and sponsors in leveraged financing transactions. Jeff also has several years of experience as an emerging technologies attorney focused on capital raising efforts, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory advice, and other complex corporate and commercial transactions in the FinTech, artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency, digital art, gaming, and blockchain industries.
While earning his J.D. from Tulane University Law School, Jeff was the senior articles editor of The Sports Lawyer, vice president of the Tulane Sports Law Society, managing editor of the Tulane Law Review, and a member of the Order of the Coif.
Jeff is a member of the state bar of New York.
