Hamilton Lane Partners with Philadelphia’s Cristo Rey High School
Bala Cynwyd, Penn. – Hamilton Lane (NASDAQ: HLNE) announced it has once again partnered with Cristo Rey Philadelphia, an independent, Catholic, college preparatory school for students of all faiths who could not otherwise afford a private education.
As a job partner, Hamilton Lane today welcomes four students to its Bala Cynwyd headquarters as part of the Cristo Rey curriculum that combines rigorous academics with professional on-site work experience in the form of a work-study program. The students will work at Hamilton Lane one day per week throughout the 2017-2018 school year.
One of the primary goals of the work-study program is to help students develop lifelong skills and create professional networks that they can carry with them to and beyond college. As part of the partnership, Hamilton Lane has made a financial commitment to the school that funds 65 percent of each student’s tuition.
“This is an incredibly unique and important program, and we’re proud to be partnering with Cristo Rey for our second year. Our Diversity & Inclusion Council facilitated this partnership as part of our ongoing effort to help educate, encourage and support underserved or diverse populations who otherwise may not have the opportunity to learn about and experience the private markets,” said Mario Giannini, CEO of Hamilton Lane.
“Our partnerships with Hamilton Lane and other local companies are essential to ensuring that we’re able to offer the rewarding and unique work-study program as part of our curriculum each year,” said John McConnell, Founder and President of Cristo Rey Philadelphia. “We’re grateful for their support in helping to create a positive academic, social and financial experience for our students.”
The Cristo Rey partnership is the latest in the firm’s continuing efforts to support diversity-focused educational initiatives: This summer, Hamilton Lane’s Diversity & Inclusion Council also spearheaded a partnership with Girls Who Invest, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the number of women in portfolio management and executive leadership in the asset management industry. Earlier this year, Hamilton Lane hosted its inaugural Undergraduate Women’s Private Equity Summit, welcoming a select group of sophomore and junior women from several Philadelphia-area colleges and universities for a one-day educational and networking event. The Summit was hosted by the HL Women’s Exchange, a networking forum to bring Hamilton Lane women together to support their development and success.
